High School
(9th - 12th Grade)
The high school program at Blessed Sacrament Academy is where students take the final steps in their journey toward becoming well-rounded, faithful, and intellectually mature young adults. These formative years are critical as students solidify their academic foundations, develop personal responsibility, and prepare for the future. Grounded in the classical Catholic tradition, our high school curriculum emphasizes rigorous academics, critical thinking, and spiritual growth. We work closely with Catholic colleges and universities to ensure that our graduates are not only ready for the challenges of higher education but also prepared to transfer smoothly to institutions that will continue to support their faith and intellectual development.
The Rhetoric Stage: Articulating Ideas with Confidence
In classical education, high school corresponds to the "Rhetoric Stage," where students build on their acquired knowledge and reasoning skills to articulate their ideas with clarity, elegance, and confidence. This stage emphasizes persuasive communication, complex reasoning, and a mature understanding of the world. By developing these skills, our students learn to become leaders who can think deeply, argue persuasively, and act with integrity.
Our high school curriculum includes:
Humanities: Literature, History, and Theology: Students read classic texts from Western literature and philosophy, engaging with the great ideas that have shaped civilization. Through Socratic seminars and analytical writing, students learn to think critically and develop their own insights. Our history courses connect the past to the present, fostering an understanding of the moral, cultural, and political forces that shape our world. In theology, students explore Catholic doctrine, ethics, and apologetics, learning to articulate and defend their faith with reason and love.
Mathematics: From algebra and geometry to calculus, our mathematics program challenges students to think logically and solve complex problems. By mastering advanced mathematical concepts, students develop discipline and analytical skills that are valuable in any field.
Science: High school students study biology, chemistry, physics, and environmental science through lectures, labs, and hands-on experiments. This approach helps students develop scientific literacy, engage in research, and understand the natural laws that govern God’s creation.
Latin and Modern Languages: Latin remains a core part of the curriculum, enhancing students' understanding of language, history, and critical thinking. We also offer modern language courses to equip students for a global world and foster an appreciation of diverse cultures.
Fine Arts: Art, music, and drama are integrated into the curriculum, allowing students to express creativity, appreciate beauty, and understand the role of the arts in shaping culture and human experience.
Philosophy and Logic: To prepare students for ethical reasoning and thoughtful engagement with contemporary issues, philosophy and formal logic are essential components of our high school program. These courses help students examine foundational questions about truth, morality, and existence.
Development of Character and Leadership
Blessed Sacrament Academy understands that high school is not only about academics; it is a time for students to grow as individuals and future leaders. We strive to cultivate character, responsibility, and maturity in our high school students, preparing them to make a meaningful impact on the world around them.
Service and Community Involvement: Students are encouraged to serve the school and local community through volunteer opportunities, outreach projects, and partnerships with local organizations. These experiences build empathy, foster compassion, and encourage a sense of social responsibility.
Spiritual Growth: Daily prayer, regular Mass, retreats, and opportunities for personal reflection guide students toward a deeper relationship with God. We support students in discerning their vocation and living a life that honors their faith and values.
Mentorship and Personal Development: Faculty mentors provide guidance in academics, personal growth, and spiritual life. By building close relationships with their mentors, students gain wisdom and support as they navigate the challenges of adolescence and prepare for the future.
Preparation for Higher Education
Our high school program is specifically designed to prepare students for success in higher education, with a focus on ensuring that they are equipped to thrive at Catholic colleges and universities. We work closely with partner institutions to offer a seamless transition from high school to college, assisting with the application process, scholarship opportunities, and introductions to faculty and advisors.
Through our college preparatory curriculum, students graduate with a solid foundation in all major disciplines, critical thinking skills, and the ability to engage deeply with their faith. We emphasize skills in time management, study habits, and self-discipline to ensure that students are well-prepared for the academic and personal responsibilities of college life.
Looking to the Future
By the time they graduate, Blessed Sacrament Academy students are ready to pursue higher education and make a positive impact on their communities. Our high school program produces graduates who are articulate, morally grounded, and intellectually prepared to be leaders in their fields. They leave Blessed Sacrament Academy with a strong sense of purpose, an unwavering faith, and a desire to serve others, embodying the academy’s mission to cultivate wisdom, virtue, and a love for truth.
Blessed Sacrament Academy is proud to send students into the world who are equipped to excel academically, live faithfully, and lift up those around them. As they embark on the next chapter of their lives, they carry with them the values, knowledge, and resilience to become both leaders and servants in a world in need of faith-filled men and women.
